Since 1624, the Álvarez de Toledo family has produced the world’s finest olive oils on their Perales de Valdueza estate near Merida, the provincial capital of Extremadura in southwestern Spain—a site with a legacy of olive oil production dating back more than two thousand years, when the ancient Romans chose it for its ideal olive growing conditions.
With 240 hectares devoted to olive groves, the estate is overseen by 13th-generation steward Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo with rigorous control at every stage, guided by deep environmental respect, state-of-the-art milling, and exacting analytical and sensory evaluation. Its sustainability is rooted in a model of integrated production. This unique integration ensures both the health of the land and the consistency of the oils year after year. The family produces Marqués de Valdueza extra virgin olive oils exclusively from estate-grown olives, which are harvested at optimal maturity and pressed, stored, and bottled on site to ensure the freshest possible product.
Their standout extra virgin olive oils blend the rare Morisca olive with three local cultivars: Hojiblanca, Picual, and Arbequina. These varieties give their oils their unique style and characteristics, as well as excellent aroma, a fresh fruit character, stability, balance, and total harmony. The result is a duo of standout olive oils that reflect both the land and the dedication of those who tend it.
