Almazara As Pontis (in the local Fala dialect, As Pontis means “The Bridges," referring to ancient stone masterpieces constructed by the Romans) was founded by brothers Carlos and Miguel Carrasco in the Sierra de Gata region of Extremadura, Spain. Their award-winning extra virgin olive oils are made exclusively of hand-harvested olives from old, indigenous Manzanilla Cacereña trees on the Carrasco family property, which is surrounded by a nature reserve. The distinctive fruitiness of their high quality extra virgin olive oils is owed to their love for and careful treatment of the Manzanilla Cacereña olives throughout the entire production process.

Almazara As Pontis has become one of the most technologically advanced oil mills in Spain and has even been named The Best Olive Oil Mill in Spain by the Spanish Association of Olive Municipalities (AEMO). Upon harvest, the olives are pressed on site using a state-of-the-art Pieralisi oil mill. Almazara As Pontis is committed to respecting the environment and their entire production is sustainably integrated: power is generated by a biodigester, water is purified in-house, and crushed olives are used to fertilize the groves. They are always striving to promote the culture of excellent extra virgin olive oil through oleotourism.
